A little after he was rushed offstage, his rep came out to speak to the crowd – mentioning that he’d been short of breath the whole time, was receiving oxygen in the back, and then used the “It was almost worse than this” distraction tactic, saying something to the effect of, “The doctor told him to leave, but he’s going stay and finish because he’s such a hero to do his job. You know, the one he gets paid to do after arriving late.”
I might have done a little paraphrasing there.
What’s really important, though, is that he’s doing better. Well enough – at least -to pose for yet another shirtless picture:
Irony of the day? He’s performing at an arena called the O2 in London, and molecular O2 is allegedly exactly what he’s short on lately. Either way, the cameras don’t lie. He fails to nail a dance move kick and falls on his ass. Maybe the tardiness has been carrying over to rehearsal time, too. It’s not that hard to believe that someone cocky enough to leave fans waiting for hours and blame it on the press, or to butt-plant mid-show (when cameras are recording it) and call it fainting, would also skip practicing dance routines for a tour.
I think the best part about the above reference is that the following line in that movie is, “I feel faint.”
Obviously, it’s not a big deal to me as an individual what happens with some pop star’s future; but it says a lot about all teenagers, regardless of their niche in life. It’s also unfortunate to see someone with so much talent let it all go to his head – and potentially – to waste. What this week’s “bad press” indicates is that he’s just like any other kid his age: he needs fewer “yes men” feeding his ego, cognitive dissonance, and denial about ever having any fault about anything. Otherwise, next time karma is going to do much more than make him fabricate excuses when he falls on his ass: “Bottom lying”.
